Historic Yazd & Experiencing Ashura In Shiraz

I will remember Yazd for several things; 1. Beautiful mosques and architecture like the Amir Chakmak complex & Masjid- e Jameh. 2. We visited a mosque where huge mourning-sessions were held because of the holy month Moharam. Men were singing, crying and slapping on their chests symbolising sorrow due the tragic events of Karbala (massacre of Imam Hosseini). Also women, devided from the men, showed their sorrow by listening to the singing men and crying along with them. 3. Yazdi…

Incredible Desert Village Varzaneh

Jawad brought us to a small village near the Varzaneh desert. He knew everyone in the village so he arranged a house whose owners had went to Esfahan for couple of days. They would get back the next day in the evening so till that time we had it for ourselves. He had also arranged lunch and dinner at the in-laws of the family. We got introduced to each other and we experienced their warm hospitality of offering us tea…

Acid Attacks On Women In Esfahan

Honestly I was a bit worried about the acid-attacks which was all over the news so we informed at the reception of our hotel if it was really safe to go outside. They laughed and said we really shouldn’t be worried because most of those attacks were based on personal matters and not because of women wearing “Western” clothing which we previously thought. Stroll Around In Mountain Village Abyaneh

The next day the guesthouse called another taxidriver to bring us to the busstation since we wanted to go to Esfahan. After some chitchat with the taxidriver about Abyaneh, we decided to go there first anyway since it was on the way. The taxidriver offered to be our guide there which was really nice. The alleys of Abyaneh are lovely and its people are amazing! You will encounter only old people sitting on the sides of the alleys trying to…

See Beautiful Persian Architecture In Kashan

It was an interesting busride to Kashan since we met some nice Persians who were curious to know who we were and where we came from. We talked about our backgrounds, why we came to Iran, about politics, etc. ( However you should be cautious talking about politics in public. Sometimes I forgot about that when caught up in a discussion). When we arrived in Kashan, we took our goodbyes after they helped us getting a cab to our hotel.…

Arrival In Teheran

We were super nervous for our arrival in Teheran. We had everything fixed and were well prepared, but still worried. What if we didn’t receive a visa and we would get deported. That would be a disaster because it would cost us lots of money and our route/plans in Iran would get ruined. And secretly I was also a bit scared to go to Iran, since you hear al kind of negative things about the country; the strict monitoring by…
