Day 3 + 4: Chilling & Exploring Santorini

Day 3: Farhang suggested to do NOTHING today. After our breakfast, we put our sun beds at our balcony and just lay down, did some reading, writing and listening to music. We haven’t been able to chill for such a long time, that we actually have to learn again how to adjust our mindset to a chill modus without any stress or other hassles. Man, how we enjoyed that. After that I was all zen.

Day 4: We wanted to do something active, so we decided to walk from Imerovigli till Oia (end of the island) which would be a 2-hours walk. We wanted to avoid the heat, so started our hike around 4 pm.  I didn’t think it would be necessary to take extra food or drinks (we took just one bottle of water) since it wouldn’t last longer than 2 hours and we would probably walk by some smaller villages so we could always buy something on our way. But yet again we underestimated the duration of it, since we also decided to go up another hill when we walked past it. When we walked back to the main hiking road, it was already 6 pm. We had our fingers crossed to get to the top before sunset which would be around 7.45 pm.  But at one point we got really exhausted, hungry and thirsty (we had already passed all the smaller villages so we couldn’t rest somewhere or get some food/water) and it was almost 8 pm. We weren’t going to witness the sunset unfortunately.  Lesson number 1: always have your daypack with you with some small bites and lots of water, no matter how long the hiking trail is.  Eventually we made it to the top around 8.15 pm, took some photos of the awesome view and rested a while before we would walk down to get to Oia. We reached the village around 8.30 and found a restaurant to have our dinner. I got super excited when I saw a picture of Jennifer Aniston hanging there with the owner. As a huge Friends-fan, I found it kinda cool to eat at the same place as her. How awesome would it be to actually bump into such celebrity totally oblivious and not expecting it at all. The restaurant had a great ambiance with live music and amazing greek food. We took the bus back to Imerovigli and bought some fresh watermelon to eat & enjoy on our balcony as a final reward for our long hiking trail.
