Day 2: Santorini Is Mesmerizing

Wow such a good night sleep, we really needed that! After having breakfast, we decided to do the famous hike to Fira (the biggest village in Santorini). Did you know there are no street names in Santorini? There was indeed one path leading to Fira from the place we stayed. And when you ask for example where you can find the nearest busstop, the locals just give directions without mentioning any street names (‘go left there’…’and when you’re on the main street, take the right path..’).

The hike itself was just amazing; a small path with huge villas, cozy cafes and luxury stores and restaurants on one side and the beautiful seaview on the other. There are also several side paths which lead into the heart of the island where there are other small(er) villages. The whole scenery was just surreal. After one hour walk, we reached Fira and decided to also inform at several ticket encounters for ferry boats towards Turkey since that would be our next destination. The best option was to get the boat to Kos and from there the next boat to Bodrum. The tickets to Kos cost 35 euros per person.

We walked back towards our villa and decided to have our dinner at our balcony, under the beautiful stars and the flickering lights of the villages we had sight of. It was that moment I truly felt blessed and extremely happy.
